This is a qualifying Stoa speech & debate tournament hosted by Mars Hill Speech & Debate Club.

Dates: March 16-18, 2017

Location: Northwest Christian School

Events: TP Debate, LD Debate, Parli Debate, all STOA speech events, Novice Impromptu, and a Juniors Tournament

Registration opens: Monday, February 20th at 8:00AM (MST)
Registration closes: Sunday, February 26th at Midnight (MST)

Entry Procedure: Please click on the "STUDENT REGISTRATION" tab above and complete all necessary steps. To add students to a family registration, just click "ADD STUDENT." A team is not registered until both debate or duo partners are registered.
Please make sure you check the applicable box if you are a first-year debater, so that a timer can be provided for your rounds.

Fees:
Debate - $35 per debater for the first event and $25 per debater for the second.
Speech Events - $25 per student for the first event and $15 for each additional event.

Refund and Drop Fees:
Drop Fees are standard practice at many tournaments. Drop Fees are utilized to discourage late drops to events. Late drops negatively impact the tournament in a number of ways. Please double-check your events prior to February 26th. If you decide to drop any events, please send an email to mhsdaz@gmail.com.
• February 20th - 26th ~ Refunds available.
• February 27th – March 12th ~ No Refunds, Drop Fee of $20 per event.
• March 12th – 15th ~ Drop Fee of $25 per event.

In order to be eligible to compete in your other events, this fee must be paid by PayPal prior to the tournament. There will be a $30 fee for any event that is dropped at on-site student check-in. In order to be eligible to compete in your other events, this fee must be paid by cash at student check-in before the tournament begins.

Payment: Registration is not complete until your fees have been paid! This can be done automatically at the end of the registration process - just click the "Pay" button and follow the prompts to use PayPal to pay your fees. No refunds will be given for drops after Sunday, February 26th at 11:59 PM MST.

Judges: We need judges! If you have an alumni hanging around the house, bring him or her along! Parents, please plan on judging three rounds minimum. Judge orientation sessions will be provided each day of the tournament.

A special note to local families -- please consider having family/alumni/friends come and judge a round. We will have training available for community judges. For more information, see the Community Judge page.

Timers: We also need timers! Siblings make great timers. We will teach them all they need to know. Debaters - please remember to bring your time pieces! Experienced debaters please be prepared to self-time your debates.
